Enviorment- In East St. Louis, there are many chemical plants that are hazardous. There has also been many lead poisoning incedents. East St. Louis is the"most distressed city in America". I am interested because the I try to be environmentally conscious.

Walkibility of St. Louis- This article recognizes how St. Louis is not a city where many people are able to walk to places. It compares how in Chesterfield to go anywhere you must use a car. In the St. Louis City, people are able to walk to destinations. The problem lies in how children are not able to walk to school, even though many are able to, but many do not live in those areas of St Louis Region. The author would like to see 10 percent of St. Louis being able to walk places, compared to the current range of 1-2%. I am interested in this subject because one thing that I enjoy in other cities, when I travel, is the ability to walk places from one place to the other.
Smoking- There have been statements about whether or not smoking should be allowed in restuarants. Now signs are required if smoking is allowed with a warning sign if smoking is allowed. The new laws have been put into place for health safety. This subject interests me because I do not like second hand smoke and have my own strong views on the subject.
