This article talks about how the UN anounced that the Congo could had a genocide after the Rwandan genocide. The document said that the Tutsi, in 1994, forced the Hutu out of Rwanda and into the Congo, after the Rwandan genocide. There were many rapings from the year 1993 to 2003. It said that one reasons for the genocide is because of the minerals that the Congo provides for the world. There are still Rwandan refugees in the Congo.
I find it amazing that the UN just announced this connection of the possibility now of a genocide in Congo. It seems like that if they are just figuring out that their was a genocide, then they would have made it official sooner. It makes me question, why hasn't this not caught attention, like the Rwandan Genocide, when the focus was on Rwanda and not Congo, if the same types things were going on?
